  10.     The data sheet window contains several
  11. new elements: status box, edit window,
  12. scroll bars, etc.  They are explained in
  13. the following sections.

  16. █  Status box
  17.  
  18.     This box shows the currently selected
  19. block of data sheet.  For example,
  20. "C4R3-C8R7" means that the current sheet
  21. selected block is from the fourth column
  22. and the third row to the eighth column and
  23. the seventh row.

  26. █  Edit window
  27.  
  28.     The Edit window area is an input-line
  29. box where you can type in data and text.
  30. The OK button and Cancel button are used
  31. in conjunction with the Edit window.

  33.   OK Button:  Click this button to accept
  34.     the contents of the Edit window in the
  35.     active cell (the one that is
  36.     highlighted).

  38.   Cancel Button:  Click this button to
  39.     abort any edit action in the Edit
  40.     window and put the original contents
  41.     back in the Edit window.

  44. █  Scroll bars
  45.  
  46.     There are two scroll bars - horizontal
  47. and vertical.  The horizontal scroll bar
  48. controls column movement while the vertical
  49. scroll bar controls row movement.

  52. █  Columns and rows
  53.  
  54.     The data sheet is organized by columns
  55. and rows of cells.  A cell is where a data
  56. number is stored and displayed.  A column
  57. is an array of cells.  In TechPlot, all
  58. mathematical transformations and
  59. statistical analyses are based on columns
  60. of data.  A row is a collections of cells
  61. in horizontal direction.  Rows are only
  62. used internally for managing and editing
  63. sheet data.

  65.   Column Name:  Since TechPlot does
  66.     mathematical calculations based on
  67.     columns, the column names become
  68.     important references.  Each column has
  69.     a unique name.  The default name for a
  70.     column is 'Column'+Number, where
  71.     'Number' is the current column number.
  72.     For example, the third column's default
  73.     name is 'Column3'.

  75.   Row Number:  This is the left-most
  76.     column.  It shows the position of
  77.     numbers in a column.

  79.   Active Cell:  The active cell is the one
  80.     that is highlighted.  The value of the
  81.     active cell is shown in the Edit
  82.     window.  Only the value of the
  83.     currently active cell can be edited.

  86. █  Moving the active cell around the
  87.    data sheet
  88.  
  89.     You can use either keyboard or mouse to
  90. move a cell around in the data sheet.  The
  91. current active cell is highlighted.

  93.   Using the keyboard:
  94.     · The up (-) and down (_) arrow keys
  95.       move up and down by one row.  When it
  96.       reaches the first row, it will move
  97.       to the column title and the selection
  98.       becomes one column.

  100.     · The left (¬) and right (r) arrow keys
  101.       move left and right by one column.
  102.       When the cell reaches the first
  103.       column, it will move to the row
  104.       number 'cell' and the selection
  105.       becomes one row.

  107.     · If the current selection is one
  108.       column (row), then when you use
  109.       left (down) or right (up) arrow key,
  110.       then movement will be one column
  111.       (row) by one column (row).

  113.     · You can also use the Sheet | GoTo
  114.       command to specify a cell position
  115.       and move to that position.

  117.   Using the mouse:
  118.     · Just click the mouse button when the
  119.       mouse cursor is pointing at the cell
  120.       position you want to move to.

  122.     · When you click on a column title, the
  123.       whole column will be selected.

  125.     · When you click on a row number, the
  126.       whole row will be selected.

  128.     · Click 'ALL' to select the entire data
  129.       sheet.
